Just like Hawai'i is a group of islands, so is New York City. In Hawai'i there are eight main islands; Hawai'i (the big island), Maui, Kaho'olawe, Lana'i, Moloka'i, O'ahu, Kaua'i, and Ni'ihau. New York City is split up into five boroughs; Manhattan, Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. Manhattan is it's own individual island, along with Staten Island. While Brooklyn and Queens is connected to Long Island. Then the Bronx is connected to upstate New York. With both of these locations being surrounded by water, it makes for easy flooding when the weather gets bad. In Hawai'i, they have had to face many tsunamis. In fact, since the early 1800s Hawai'i has already had about 50 tsunamis. In New York City, they often have to deal with Hurricanes. These strong winds and downpour lead to flooding, especially parts of lower Manhattan and Staten Island.
